Anonymous asked: Ivey would you consider not marrying an African American bride, maybe another ethnically diverse girl.. cause you know I'm single ;) but seriously
look at us two single folk, lol..
real talk tho, “ethnically diverse” is the key phrase..
I don’t have much against marrying a non African-American, or someone who doesn’t have as much African ancestry as I do, but she must be culturally and ethnically aware..
do know tho, my sistas are definitely my first choice.. and honestly what I’m first attracted to..
being a successful creative REQUIRES you to consistently seek out, absorb, and share the multiple expressions of art and life that are within your area of access
before i’ve called them intelligent or brave
i am sorry i made it sound as though
something as simple as what you’re born with
is all you have to be proud of
when you have broken mountains with your wit
from now on i will say things like
you are resilient, or you are extraordinary
not because i don’t think you’re beautiful
but because i need you to know
you are more than that
whenever I’m traveling I always get tripped out at the fact that this is someone’s actual hometown like they know every back road and how to get everywhere and they’ve probably had tons of memories in this citybut I’m just someone passing by
Creativity is a turbulent array of inertia grounded between things existential and internal. All things creative in my life derive from my ancestors. Through creativity I’m the vehicle of an aesthetic residue harnessing the reverbs and echoes of those that came before me. Without my ancestors there is no echo, no life force, no creation, no creativity. I am an astronaut suspended in their universal mythos..
